Radical ideas about love
Rio native Panmela Castro is talking about love in her first participatory exhibition at the Rio Art Museum.
With new works including photographs, paintings, sculptures and videos, the artist is also opening up space for the public to interact with her works.
In addition, on September 28, Panmela will give a performance called “Honra ao mérito” (2023), which addresses the lack of recognition for women and proposes a ceremony where medals are awarded to women, as a way of valuing their talents and actions worthy of note. Not to be missed!

Samba school rehearsals
It’s still September, but when it comes to Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, the party lasts all year round. That’s why this month you can already enjoy some samba rehearsals at Salgueiro’s court, with the Furiosa Bateria that gives you goosebumps from head to toe!
In addition, the night also features passistas, baianas, musicians and a couple of flag bearers to welcome the public and bring all the magic of the Rio Carnival!

Details of Nós Dois
Among the tips on what to do in September, it’s also worth seeing the show ‘Detalhes de Nós Dois’, showing at the Clara Nunes Theater, in Shopping da Gávea.
With Helga Nemetik and Pedro Henrique Lopes in the cast, the actors give life to the characters Laura and Beto who, after years apart, decide to meet again to sort out the last memories left in an old apartment.

As well as screening short films, the program also includes talks and workshops, with the aim of stimulating the production of independent Brazilian cinema and creating a space for interaction between producers, filmmakers and the public.
The full program and how to get tickets can be found on the event’s official website.
Tips for Suffering in Peace
Another good choice for this month in Rio is the comedy ‘Dicas para sofrer em Paz’ (Tips for Suffering in Peace), showing at SESC Copacabana.
With a lot of humour and irony, the play talks about our mental health in the culture of overperformance, which encourages and normalizes overwork with self-exploitation and the false promise of autonomy and freedom.

📌SESC Copacabana | Rua Domingos Ferreira, 160 – Copacabana
💵From R$7.50 (members)
Paredão Occupies the Museum
Three days of lively parties and lots of free attractions at Rio’s CCBB. That’s the vibe of the ‘Paredão Occupies the Museum’ Festival.
The event highlights Brazil’s sound diversity and celebrates paredão culture, with lots of music, debates, a food fair and more!
