Illuminate West Zone
Hello, Realengo and Barra da Tijuca! The Ilumina Oeste festival will take place from March 1st to 3rd to celebrate Rio’s birthday – and all cariocas are invited!
The program includes stand-up comedy shows, free concerts, conversation circles and a gastronomic fair – just some of the cultural activities that will excite the crowd. The event takes place in two locations: Areninha Gilberto Gil, in Realengo, and Museu do Pontal, in Barra.
FliCacique – Cacique de Ramos Literary Festival
For the first time, Cacique de Ramos will be holding a literary festival. It’s FliCacique, with the theme “Sowing New Sweet Refuges”.
The event will include more than 35 activities, including workshops, discussion groups and meetings with authors. In addition, to further strengthen its commitment to the history and music of this important place, the Cacique de Ramos Literary Festival also offers a percussion workshop, a guided tour, a round table discussion and an exhibition of illustrations. Not to be missed!
‘I’m Not Harvey – The Challenge of the Swapped Heads’
Cia dos Inquietos will be performing its first season in Rio de Janeiro and the premiere couldn’t be more emblematic.
In ‘Eu Não Sou Harvey – O Desafio das Cabeças Trocadas’, actor Ed Moraes performs a monologue inspired by the last days in the life of American activist Harvey Milk, an icon in the fight for the rights of LGBTQIA+ people. The play runs from March 8 to 31 at the Teatro Municipal Café Pequeno.

Candlelight Concerts
Candlelight shows never cease to amaze and thrill those who attend, and if you haven’t been yet, don’t miss your chance!
In March, you can see two great concerts: Candlelight: Rock Classics with Porto – March 21; and Candlelight: Tribute to Taylor Swift – March 23.

10th Arte Plural Photography Exhibition
Icon Artes Galeria, located in the Bhering Factory, is presenting the tenth edition of the Arte Plural Photography Show, which takes place between March 2 and April 20.
The highlight of the show is photographer and environmentalist Mário Barila, whose black and white photos invite you to contemplate the beauty of the Rio de Janeiro coastline and reveal the daily life of a fisherman casting his net into the Paraty sea at the end of the afternoon.

‘Alone and Well Accompanied’
It’s been eight years – and a lot of success – with the play “No Gogó do Paulinho”.
But this time, actor Maurício Manfrini returns to the stage with the new show “Só e Bem Acompanhado” (Alone and Well Accompanied ) from March 2 at the Miguel Falabella Theater in Norte Shopping. Paulinho Gogó, a character created more than two decades ago by the actor, comedian, announcer, voice actor, musician, singer and songwriter, is in charge of the show.

Design Tasting 2024
The European Institute of Design (IED ) is opening its doors to those interested in design, fashion, art and business. With an immersive experience, Design Degustação 2024 takes place on March 5 and 7, from 7pm to 10pm, at the IED Brasil headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.
The Design Degustação activities include options with symbolic investments, which allow participants to explore various facets of design.

Itinerant Gastronomic Fair
On March 16 and 17, the Itinerant Gastronomic Fair will rock Rio de Janeiro with its St Patrick’s Day edition, featuring craft beer from local producers, gastronomy and lots of entertainment.
The fair takes place at Aterro do Flamengo, at posto 3, and is free to enter. The fair also has DJs and a kids’ area, as well as delicious food!
‘Looking from the Air: a new perspective’
At Shopping Boulevard, in Vila Isabel, the exhibition “Olhar Aéreo: uma nova perspectiva” is being held in the Galeria Boulevard cultural space.
The exhibition, designed by engineer Leonardo Barros, is an invitation to a unique visual journey, in which the neighborhoods of Greater Tijuca are seen from a different perspective – the aerial view, bringing a new look to everyday life and the urban landscape. The exhibition runs until the 27th.

Just like Carnival, summer also seems to have no end in Rio de Janeiro. The city is getting hotter by the day and the only way is to look for options to cool off in the heat.
