Weaving Stories – Latin American Textile Art

Curated by Francela Carrera, it highlights the leading role of women’s textile art and its ability to tell profound stories of resilience through its weaves.
Magnolia

Freely inspired by the song of the same name and the iconic album “A Tábua de Esmeralda,” the musical fable “Magnólia” offers a feminine and sensitive perspective on the work of Jorge Ben Jor.
The narrative follows the mythical journey of an astronaut goddess who, upon meeting the black knight Saint George, is tasked with descending to Earth to experience human life.
Heart in the Mouth

Delving into the philosophical and existential questions of Jean-Luc Godard, the play “Coração na Boca” premieres this weekend and takes the Nouvelle Vague classic “Pierrot Le Fou” as its starting point.
Directed by Felipe Vidal, the production invites reflection on desire, freedom, and the limits of escape, superimposing the characters of the couple Marianne and Ferdinand onto the actors themselves (Priscilla Rozenbaum and José Karini) and the filmmaker.

This weekend in Rio, it’s also worth checking out the short documentary ‘Sonho e Delírio, ‘ which blends photographs by Luiz Baltar with text by João do Rio to explore the tradition of bate-bolas.
The session is free and will feature a discussion with the team at the Sesc Arte Cultural Space in Flamengo.

The evening also features an opening performance by Natascha Falcão and special guest appearances by AJULIACOSTA and rapper TZ da Coronel.
O Formigueiro

This dramatic comedy explores with humor and sensitivity the dynamics of a family dealing with the matriarch’s Alzheimer’s disease .
During preparations for a birthday lunch, the unexpected arrival of a brother-in-law on the run from the police brings to light old traumas, disputes, and secrets kept hidden for decades.

An entire afternoon of activities at the Museum of Astronomy and Related Sciences focused on celebrating and encouraging women’s participation in science.
With the theme “Women’s Radar: Climate Change in Rio de Janeiro – Women in Action!”, the program features the traditional Discovery Tent (varied workshops), roundtable discussions with experts, guided tours, and stargazing with astronomical stories told from a feminist perspective.

If you’re looking for things to do this weekend in Rio de Janeiro, this historic exhibition is a must-see.
Celebrating four decades of one of the country’s most iconic cultural spaces, the exhibition brings together around 160 works by more than 100 artists from different generations, such as Adriana Varejão, Hélio Oiticica, and Beatriz Milhazes.
