Rio de Janeiro is beautiful, yes, everyone knows that. But the question is: where can you enjoy the best views of the Marvelous City? Some of the famous viewpoints in Rio de Janeiro are undoubtedly Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain.
However, there are other places that offer equally incredible views. Some are difficult to access, others not so much. Take note of our suggestions and prepare to be speechless.
Viewpoints in Rio de Janeiro
1 – Chinese View
This viewpoint was built at the beginning of the 20th century as a tribute to China and the importation of tea cultivation into Brazilian territory; hence the name of the place – Vista Chinesa. From here you can see the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, the beaches of the south zone and Morro Dois Irmãos.
Access is easy, although be prepared to climb, and climb well, you know? Once at the top, you’ ll find the most perfect of frames. It makes you want to stop time and stay there forever, contemplating the view over the city of Rio de Janeiro.
2 – Dona Marta Viewpoint
It’s more than 360 meters high and from there you have access to one of the best views in Rio. Perhaps that’s why this place is one of the most famous tourist spots in Rio de Janeiro.
You can get there by car, but there are also a few flights of stairs to avoid for those who don’t like to exercise.
3 – Dois Irmãos Cliff Park
Located in Leblon, Parque Penhasco Dois Irmãos was created in 1992. Despite its scary name, the view from its lookout points is quite the opposite. In other words, from there you can see some of Rio de Janeiro’s most important landmarks.

4 – Pedra da Gávea
If you don’t like difficult-to-access viewpoints, then forget this suggestion. However, if you love a good challenge, you’ll certainly want to try this place.
Pedra da Gávea is one of Rio’s most beautiful mountains and is over 800 meters high. Once you reach the top, and after a long and difficult hike, you’ll fall in love with Rio over and over again.

5 – Mirante do Pasmado
This is one of the viewpoints in Rio de Janeiro that can be accessed by car. Although it’s not very high, it’s a pleasant place to breathe in the fresh air.
From here you can admire the Botafogo C ove and the super-famous Sugarloaf Mountain and Corcovado.
6 – Urca Hill
This is another of Rio de Janeiro’s viewpoints that is suitable for hikers. It is about 1.5 km long, starting at Praia Vermelha and reaching the top of Morro da Urca.
After the trail comes the wonder – the incredible view over Guanabara Bay.
7 – Leblon Lookout
This lookout point is perfect for those who like to spend the day sipping juice overlooking the sea. It’s a large wooden deck built on the rocks, allowing you to contemplate the Leblon waterfront.

8 – Ruins Park
Parque das Ruínas, located in Santa Teresa, has one of the most beautiful views in Rio, especially for those who love the city center.
It also has a bit of everything! Wooded areas, a cultural center, an art gallery, an exhibition hall and a cafeteria.
