In order to decentralize and democratize access to culture in Rio de Janeiro, the Cavideo Film Festival will take Brazilian films to six different regions of the city, in two stages. The first stage takes place this month, from June 5 to 27, with free admission and translation into Libras. Find out more!
The films shown are part of Cavideo’s collection
In case you don’t know it or have never heard of it, Cavideo started out as a video store in 1997 and is now an audiovisual production company run by Cavi Borges .
The aim of the projects created by Cavideo has always been to promote the circulation of films around the city, especially in spaces where culture is not so accessible.
Last year, for example, it created the successful “Cavideo Cinema Space”, which occupied the Maré Museum with free programming for four months.
For Mostra de Cinema Cavideo, the films screened are from partners or are part of the more than 350 available in the production company’s collection.

In addition to the film screenings, the Mostra will feature debates after the screenings and a free workshop on how to produce and make films with Cavi Borges.
The filmmaker will propose an audiovisual challenge to create a film of up to three minutes. The participant with the best script will receive a prize of R$3,000 to make the short film.
The film will be shown at Cinema Estação Botafogo in the second stage of the project.
