One of the icons of global pop culture, Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano presents the largest exhibition of his career at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro. The exhibition “Yoshitaka Amano – Beyond Fantasy” brings together more than 200 works, including paintings and illustrations never before exhibited, as well as a sensory experience for the public. Here we tell you all the details of this exhibition.
“Yoshitaka Amano – Beyond Fantasy” is divided into seven thematic sections

Yoshitaka Amano ’s career began at Tatsunoko, the studio responsible for milestones in Japanese animation. However, it was with Final Fantasy that Amano cemented his place as a leading figure.
By creating the character designs, visual identity, and aesthetic spirit of the game franchise, he laid the foundation that shaped one of the world’s most famous video game series !
Thus, the exhibition “Beyond Fantasy” takes a deep dive into his career and surprises the public. Not only those who have never encountered his work, but also those who already follow the artist’s work.
The exhibition is divided into seven thematic sections: Tatsunoko, Final Fantasy, Candy Girl, Devaloka, Vampire Hunter D, Angel’s Egg, and Collaborations.
In total, there are 218 original works, including previously unseen pieces, featuring paintings and illustrationsby one of today’s most celebrated artists.
Immersive room offers a sensory experience for visitors

As part of the exhibition, an immersive room invites visitors to “enter” Amano’s work through technology.
Thus, thirteen works from the Devaloka series were chosen to bring the immersive experience to life. In this work, Amano synthesizes his artistic influences into a personal mythology, where Eastern and Western references converge.
The exhibition is free and on display at the CCBB in Rio de Janeiro through June 22. It’s worth a visit!
