This is the first time that the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships have been held in South America. And of all the possible cities, guess where the competition will take place? Yes, in Rio de Janeiro.
The sporting event takes place this week, from August 20 to 24, at the Carioca 2 Arena, in Barra da Tijuca. What’s more, it will be the biggest edition in the history of the sport.
That’s because it will bring together 78 nations, including 18 from the Americas, surpassing the previous record set at the 2023 World Cup in Spain, which was attended by 62 countries.
FIFA Women’s World Cup to be played in Rio

Another sporting competition that is set to rock Rio de Janeiro is the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Brazil was chosen for the first time to host the tournament, which will take place on June 24 and July 25, 2027.
