The June festival season has begun, and the best part of the holiday is enjoying the Glorioso Folguedo Junino.
With quadrilha dancing, a country wedding, love mail, musical chairs, and much more, the G.R.B.C. Glorioso Mergulho à Fantasia is holding the second edition of the Glorioso Folguedo Junino, featuring a lineup of recreational activities, music, and traditional games that draw on the traditions of old-fashioned June festivals!
Arraiá do Amor
In Nova Iguaçu, the 6th edition of Arraiá do Amor will take place from June 4 to 7, starting at 3 p.m. each day.
There are four days of plenty of dancing, traditional food, gourmet food stalls, a forró show, quadrilha dance performances, and a kids’ area with lots of fun for the little ones. Admission to the event is free and open to all ages!
Rio Marathon
This holiday marks the start of the Rio Marathon, one of the biggest sporting events in Latin America.
But even if you aren’t registered for any race, the marathon takes place in open spaces around the city, and you can soak up the event’s super-lively atmosphere to send positive energy to the athletes.

Authen Run House
In the spirit of the holiday and the Rio Marathon, Casa da Glória offers a special program that combines brunch, live jazz, and experiences related to the world of running.
From June 4 to 6, the mansion will host Authen Run House, with activities open to the public on the second floor of the house, while the Bistrô da Casa will serve the traditional house breakfast, exceptionally available from Thursday to Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
On Friday, the garden features live jazz at 8 p.m., and runners registered for the race get a special house drink.
Suraras of the Tapajós
Suraras do Tapajós will perform a special show in Rio de Janeiro this holiday, bringing the show “Suraras do Tapajós – Indigenous Women, the Voice of Resistance” to the public.
Hailing from Alter do Chão (PA), in Santarém, the territory of the Borari people, Suraras do Tapajós is today one of the leading names in contemporary indigenous music in the country. In addition, they are also the first carimbó group formed exclusively by indigenous women in Brazil.
On June 5, they will also perform at the opening of Fafá de Belém’s concert at Circo Voador.
Selva: Solitude
After the end of the soap opera ‘Três Graças,’ where he played the character Vandilson, actor Vinícius Teixeira returns to the stage with his solo show ‘Selva: solidão.’
In the monologue, written by Jefferson Almeida and the actor himself, Vinicius plays three characters seeking to provoke reflections on LGBTQIAPN+ loneliness. The season begins this holiday and runs through June 26.
The exhibition celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Paço cultural center has been extended until June 10, so you can take advantage of the holiday to visit!
The exhibition brings together around 160 works by more than 100 artists from different generations who are part of the cultural center’s history. Among them are Adriana Varejão, Amilcar de Castro, Antonio Dias, Beatriz Milhazes, Hélio Oiticica, and many others.
The exhibition “Língua de Fogo” (Tongue of Fire), by artist Pàulla Scàvazzini, is on display at the Correios Cultural Center, featuring around 25 previously unseen works.
In addition, two large-scale installations, notably the “Flowing Mountain,” which is ten meters long! The artwork descends from the wall to the floor, with the aim of blurring the physical boundaries of the space.
Wine in Búzios

From June 3 to 7, the resort town hosts the 7th edition of the festival, which brings together wine, cuisine, music, and experiences in some of the most charming settings along the Rio de Janeiro coast.
During the event, residents and visitors will be able to enjoy tastings, musical performances, and experiences that connect wine, culture, and the Búzios lifestyle.
