The Correios Cultural Center will host artist Pàulla Scàvazzini’s first solo exhibition in Rio de Janeiro. The exhibition “Língua de Fogo” will open to the public on May 27 and features around 25 previously unseen works, as well as two large-scale installations. More details below!
Paintings in various formats, works on glass, and a sensory experience with the audience

Curated by Shannon Botelho, the exhibition “Língua de Fogo” will feature paintings in various formats, works on glass, and two interventions designed specifically for the space.
One of the highlights is the installation “Montanha que Escorre, “ which is ten meters long! The work will descend from the wall to the floor, with the aim of blurring the physical boundaries of the space.
In addition, the public will also be able to walk on one of the works to physically experience the composition.
“Língua de Fogo” exhibition draws inspiration from Brazilian tropical botany

In this exhibition, Pàulla Scàvazzini’s paintings draw on references from Brazilian tropical botany. However, they move away from representation to create an atmosphere of intense chromatic vibrancy.
Thus, the shades of blue, orange, and red, like different temperatures of a flame, sensorially convey the tensions of the present, referencing current debates on ecology and environmental transformation.
The work on display in Rio de Janeiro expands on the concepts Scàvazzini recently presented in New York at the exhibition “Between Utopias and Abyss.”
The exhibition runs in Rio de Janeiro through July
Although she lives in São Paulo, the artist has strong emotional ties to the Marvelous City. This is because her father’s family is from Rio, and she has been visiting the city since childhood! For this reason, and because it is her first solo show in Rio, the exhibition marks a symbolic moment in the artist’s career.
The exhibition opens on May 27 and will run through July 4!
The opening program will begin at 4:00 p.m., with a guided tour led by the curator at 4:30 p.m.
