Tropicália Discos, a charming vinyl shop in Rio de Janeiro. Discover more about this little gem!
Vinyl shop, record label, cultural hub: discover Tropicália Discos
It all began in 2004 as a store specializing in vinyl records and CDs in Downtown Rio. Over the course of 21 years, Tropicália Discos has established itself as one of the most traditional in the industry and has won over a loyal following of customers seeking rare Brazilian and international titles.
So loyal that even a change of address didn’t shake Tropicália’s success . In a 50-square-meter townhouse in Botafogo, in Rio’s South Zone, the store houses nearly 20,000 records and continues to attract curious visitors and lovers of good music.
In addition, the space has evolved from being“just” a vinyl store to becoming a gathering place, with a rich cultural program that includes book signings, talks, album releases, and more!
Upstairs, in partnership with Tropicália, is the Rocinante factory and record label, which produces vinyl records and records albums.
Dua Lipa’s favorite spot in Rio

In partnership with Dua Lipa and her editorial platform, Service95, Google Maps launched 12 lists featuring the singer’s favorite spots around the world. From restaurants to bookstores and nightlife, the coolest part is that each one includes a note from the singer’s personal archive and recommendations written by her!
Dua Lipa, who was in Rio de Janeiro in 2025 on her Radical Optimism tour, experienced the city to the fullest, including a soccer game at Maracanã, samba at the Vila Isabel samba school, and cold draft beer at Chanchada Bar.
But it was Tropicália Discos that won the artist’s heart, who highlighted the spot on her list of ‘Global Record Stores’.
According to Dua Lipa, Tropicália Discos is a beautiful place that understands Brazilian music in all its forms. Plus, it’s a “store that makes us grateful that vinyl has survived.” Awesome, isn’t it?
