The Spring Festival is an ancient tradition that marks the arrival of the new season and the Chinese New Year. However, the celebration is not restricted to the country, as the festival is also celebrated in different parts of the world.
In Rio de Janeiro, the 2026 Spring Festival will be held at the Municipal Theater on February 25, with the participation of the Copacabana Forte Orchestra and free admission!
A dive into Chinese tradition in one of Rio de Janeiro’s most emblematic buildings

The Spring Festival is part of the activities of the Brazil-China Cultural Year 2026, which celebrates and strengthens cultural and tourist exchanges between the two countries.
To make the celebration even more special, this ancient tradition will take place in one of Rio de Janeiro’s most emblematic buildings: the Municipal Theater!
The idea is to immerse yourself in Chinese culture, with lots of traditional music and dance. In addition, other educational and cultural activities are included in the program, in partnership with the Confucius Institute at PUC-Rio.
Copacabana Forte Orchestra and more attractions at the 2026 Spring Festival

The party will be led by the Copacabana Forte Orchestra, conducted by maestro Luiz Potter.
The orchestra’s repertoire will include Brazilian popular music as well as classic Chinese songs.
In addition, the event will feature special guests, such as soprano Yu Xi and Bahian guitar master Armandinho Macêdo.
There’s more: the audience will also watch the traditional Lion and Dragon Dance, which is a symbol of prosperity, renewal, and good luck in Chinese culture! All for free!
The Spring Festival takes place on February 25, starting at 7:30 p.m., at the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro.
