There are more than ten dance, circus and theater shows for adults and children, completely free of charge! This is already the third year of the event, which aims to encourage new productions by groups, collectives and artists, as well as valuing culture and the creative industry. So, find out more about the Mostra Firjan SESI de Artes Cênicas, which is taking place at Futuros – Art of Technology.
Check out the dance shows at Mostra Firjan SESI
In the program of Mostra Firjan SESI, the show “Rhadopis” is inspired by the literary work of Egyptian writer Naguib Mahfouz. In it, the author deals with themes such as love and prejudice, pride and desire. He also draws parallels between the British occupation of Egypt and the struggle of the ancient pharaohs against other peoples.
In addition, “A Pequena Coreografia do Adeus” is an unprecedented flamenco dance project, loosely inspired by Aline Bei‘s award-winning book .
Another dance show on the program is “BPM – Beats per Minute”. Here, the proposal is to experiment with the construction of a pulsating body based on clubbing culture and elements of House dance.
In “GiraMundo”, the idea is to show the crossings of black ancestry based on religiosity, faith and spirituality. Finally, the show “Mael – Meu nome é Ismael Ivo” is a powerful and moving tribute to the dance master Ismael Ivo.
Theater for adults and children is also part of the program
For those who enjoy theater, Mostra Firjan Sesi has a program for adults and children!
Among the children’s plays are “Red Fish”, with a playful plot that, through metaphors, addresses the feeling of anger and the ways of dealing with it; “Sleeping Beauty”, a retelling of the classic story using various elements of African culture and mythology; “Genius of the Lamp”, a play that reflects on childhood in the Baixada Fluminense, the Northeast and the peripheries; and “Tirico e as histórias de morros e fossos”, about a dreamy child who loves to play and make up stories with his imaginary friend Alecrim.
For the older ones, it’s worth checking out the plays “Arapuca”, based on the work “Clara dos Anjos” by Lima Barreto, with reflections on memories, territory and ethnic-racial issues; and “Manual de Convivência”, an unpublished text by João Batista that deals with the difficulty of living with “the other”, based on our concepts and prejudices.
In “Alma”, a woman without time or pause realizes that her soul, half of herself, has been left behind. Between the narratives of her childhood memories and a long wait, she prepares for the reunion with herself and her half.
Respectable public, there are circus shows too
Mostra Firjan Sesi also has three circus performances, for those who enjoy the more playful arts!
“The Clown’s Smile” is a circus-theater show in which two lonely boys meet a mysterious traveler with purple hair and lots of stories to tell.
In addition, “Waiting” is inspired by Samuel Beckett ‘s classic and brings to the stage two figures who are waiting for someone, for something to happen – to happen to them.
Finally, the show “The Enchanted Chest” offers a magical journey through time and imagination. In it, the audience embarks on a unique journey with aerialists, jugglers and clowns who unravel the secrets of a trunk.
