Anyone passing by Avenida das Américas already knows: Christmas in Barra da Tijuca has a permanent home. On November 1, starting at 7 p.m., BarraShopping will kick off “A Christmas Dream” with the lighting of the 75-meter-tall tree in the parking lot, along with a fireworks show and costumed characters.
The structure weighs 160 metric tons and features more than 2 million LED lights, 73,000 meters of light-up tubing, and 1,600 strobe lights. After the premiere, the lights will be turned on daily at 6 p.m., and there will be a fireworks display every Saturday at 7 p.m. through December 19.
A Christmas Dream: giant tree, Christmas village, and more attractions

New this year is the Christmas Village, a 1,300 m² interactive space designed by set designer Abel Gomes, featuring themed houses inspired by candy, gifts, and musical instruments.
In addition, the base of the tree once again houses Santa’s House, a 410 m² space that can be visited through December 23.
The route will feature eight different settings in total. First, an Entrance Hall, which features an interactive talking chandelier.
In addition, “Christmas Around the World” features digital displays showcasing traditions from various countries. The tour also features the Main Hall; Santa’s Kitchen, complete with a whistling kettle and a themed refrigerator; the Art Gallery, where visitors can color and create digital artworks; Santa’s Bedroom; the Office, with an interactive magic mailbox; and the Christmas Dream Space, which concludes the visit with a Christmas message.
Admission is free, but you must pick up tickets, which will be available daily through the mall’s app for same-day visits. Spots are limited, but there’s a waitlist on-site, so you can still get in even without a reservation!
The Christmas spirit also extends inside the mall

In addition to the traditional Christmas attraction, the mall’s corridors will also get into the Christmas spirit. Visitors can look forward to interactive displays, illuminated floating stars, arches, garden benches, and decorative lampposts.
On weekends in November and December, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., 30 artists from the Hiperativos group, accompanied by a band, will entertain the crowd.
Meanwhile, at the Event Plaza, a 12-meter-tall tree features an illuminated walkway inside. Surrounding it, a themed village includes a candy store, a pet shop, a flower shop, and a toy workshop.
And of course, he’ll be there: Santa Claus welcomes visitors for photos through December 24, with a double throne and a space for pets. The mall will also feature an airplane carousel.
