The Rio Planetarium is preparing a very special evening on August 27. That’s because, on this date, a lunar eclipse will occur that will be visible throughout Brazil. The special program includes not only observing the phenomenon but also an exhibition and live music. Check out more details here!
Lunar eclipse will be visible throughout Brazil
August is the month of eclipses! That’s becauseon the 12th, there was a total solar eclipse, though it was visible only in the Northern Hemisphere.
This time, in the early hours of the 27th to the 28th, there will be a lunar eclipse, which will be visible throughout Brazil! It begins around 11:30 p.m., reaches its peak at 1:12 a.m., and ends shortly before 3:00 a.m., when the Moon is expected to take on a reddish hue.
In addition, Saturn and other celestial bodies will also be visible during the early morning hours.
Rio Planetarium to Offer Free Special Programming on Eclipse Day
Although the phenomenon can be seen with the naked eye, there’s nothing better than experiencing it with someone who knows what they’re talking about!
As such, the Rio Planetarium has prepared a special program for anyone who wants to watch and learn more about the eclipse.
Activities begin at 9:00 p.m., with telescope viewing and astronomers on hand starting at 10:00 p.m.; no prior registration is required.
In addition, the program also includes dome sessions, a live broadcast, visits to the Museum of the Universe’s exhibits, and music. To make the experience even more comfortable, the public can bring a beach towel or beach chair, as well as food and drinks!
