It’s been five years without one of the greatest symbols of the Christmas season in Rio de Janeiro. But it’s back! The Lagoa Christmas Tree has already set a date to light up the Rio landscape, with a 60-meter-high structure and around 20 kilometers of lights! Find out more about the attraction!
Lighting will pay homage to Brazilian states, inspired by Van Gogh’s work

The return of the Lagoa Christmas Tree promises to thrill the public with a beautiful light show! This is because, with 900,000 LED bulbs, the visual program will have 45 luminous sequences, with designs typical of Christmas celebrations.
In addition, one of the highlights is the illumination inspired by Van Gogh’s famous work The Starry Night, representing each Brazilian state in a star!
Another attraction that will delight locals and tourists alike is the light projection that will run from the base of the tree to Christ the Redeemer, connecting the city’s tourist attractions.
Inauguration of the Lagoa Tree takes place on December 6th
Expectations for the inauguration of the Lagoa Christmas Tree were high, but the wait is over! The tree opens on December 6 and will feature live performances by the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra on a stage set up at Lagoon.
The party is expected to bring together around 200,000 people, but to ensure that everyone can follow the celebration, high-definition screens will be installed at two very strategic points: Parque dos Patins and Mirante do Cantagalo.
After its debut at the weekend, the Lagoa Christmas Tree will be lit every day from 7pm to midnight. On Fridays and Saturdays, the lighting show goes on until 1am!
