Rio de Janeiro really is the city of big events and attractions. That’s why cariocas and tourists can now get ready, because there’s a giant premiere coming up (really!). Starting on November 30, ‘Natal do Rio’ (Christmas in Rio) will begin, with a floating Christmas tree in Enseada de Botafogo, a gastronomic village, shows and much more. Find out more!
Christmas tree in Botafogo will be bigger than the one in Lagoa

For years, the traditional Lagoa Christmas Tree has always been the main attraction of the season, with all its beauty and grandeur in the middle of the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon.
However, after six years, the city will host a new event, which will bring not only a giant tree, but also many new features.
Starting with the location! The new Christmas tree will be set up on Botafogo Beach with a privileged view of Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer. Christ the Redeemer.
Moreover, at a distance of 100 meters from the sand, the structure will be 90 meters high, the equivalent of a 30-storey building! What’s more, the tree will be illuminated with more than 2.3 million lights, visual effects and water jets.
Gastronomic village, shows and more: what to expect from ‘Natal do Rio’

The Christmas tree in Botafogo is just one of the many attractions that make up the ‘Natal do Rio’ event. The project also includes a magical Christmas garden, full of experiences, gastronomy and various shows.
To welcome visitors, tunnels will be positioned right at the entrance to Enseada, with sensory experiences of light and sound.
If you’re feeling hungry, you can visit the Vila Gastronômica (Gastronomic Village), with lots of Christmas delicacies and typical dishes from Rio.
Finally, on weekends, the space will have concerts and musical performances, including samba circles, Carnival blocks, orchestras and rhythms to suit all tastes.
