The Nutcracker ballet is back in Rio and is part of the Municipal Theater ‘s Christmas program. But if you didn’t manage to get tickets, don’t worry: from this Friday, December 12, free projections of the ballet will be on display on the façade of the Theatro, as well as various other Christmas attractions throughout the month. The Municipal Theater’s façade will have special projections of the Christmas classic
To close the 2025 artistic season, Rio’s Municipal Theater is bringing a classic back to the stage. So, for those who managed to secure tickets for the show “The Nutcracker”, the performances will take place from this Saturday, December 13.
However, if you didn’t manage to buy them, great news! Projections of the famous show will be shown for free on the façade of the theater!
With scenes from the ballet and iconic characters from “The Nutcracker”, they will take place starting this Friday, December 12, always at specific times.
So check the schedule! The screenings will take place from December 12 to 28, except on December 15, 22, 24 and 25. From Tuesday to Saturday, at 18:30, 18:50, 21:30 and 21:50. Sundays only at 19:30.

Christmas village and more attractions are part of the program
In addition to the shows on stage and in mapped projections, the Municipal Theater’s Christmas season also features other attractions throughout the month.
These include the Christmas Cantata, which also takes place this Friday at 6pm in the windows of the main entrance. The Cantata features 15 performers and musicians from the Municipal, under the command of the titular conductor Cyrano Sales.
Another special performance will take place on December 18, with the Christmas edition of the Noon Opera Project. The group will perform festive repertoires on the theater ‘s internal staircase.
Finally, from December 12 to 28, TMRJ’s Boulevard will be transformed into a Christmas Village with themed decorations and various interactive attractions running daily!
