Spreadsheets, group messages, social media posts… Carnival is serious business in Rio de Janeiro, and you need to get organized to keep up with the marathon of street parties! With this in mind, the City Hall launched the “Blocos do Rio 2026” app to help revelers not get lost with so many attractions scattered throughout the city. Learn more about the tool!
Carnival app has all the information about Rio’s blocos

Anyone from Rio already knows: the street Carnival in Rio de Janeiro starts earlier and earlier, even before the official date! So, if you already want to join the revelry and only stop on Ash Wednesday, you can enjoy the party in the various street parties that are happening and will still happen throughout the city. But how can you avoid getting lost amid so many attractions?
To make life easier for revelers, the City Hall has released the free app “Blocos de Rua 2026,” with everything you need to know about the authorized street blocks. It has dates, times, and detailed routes, as well as texts that tell the story of each one. Awesome, isn’t it?
The app is available for Android and iOS and has search filters for those who want to look for specific information. What’s more, the app is available in Portuguese, English, and Spanish!
There are more than 400 street parties during Carnival in Rio de Janeiro

The idea of creating a Carnival app came about in 2023 due to the need to guide revelers amid so many blocos happening in Rio!
According to information from RioTur, this year the city will have 460 block parades spread across the city’s streets and squares, including 35 new blocks, until February 22, when the Street Carnival ends.
Thus, 135 parades are planned in the Center, 56 in the North Zone, 62 in Grande Tijuca, 46 in the West Zone, 35 on Ilha do Governador and Paquetá, 12 in Jacarepaguá, 98 in the South Zone, and 16 in Barra da Tijuca, Recreio, and Vargens.
See how to enjoy Carnival with joy and safety

With so many blocos and people on the move, you need to be extra careful when enjoying Carnival in the streets. In this case, the app is a great tool to help revelers plan ahead and know exactly where to go—and how to get there!
This is because one of the app’s highlights is access to the complete parade routes, which helps revelers follow the parade even after it has started.
Also, if you’re going to spend the whole day partying, don’t forget to wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water. Carry as little as possible and avoid walking alone, especially if you don’t know the area very well. Other than that, dress up in your Carnival accessories and enjoy the party!
The Blocos do Rio 2026 app is available for free download on major digital platforms, but you can also access the official website!
