Gira Música confirms its 11th edition for Sunday, September 6, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and debuts at a new location: the CIEP Tancredo Neves, located in Catete.
The event is free and has already established itself as one of Rio de Janeiro’s premier vinyl gatherings since its first edition in 2017. We’ll give you more details here!
Exhibitors from Rio and other states participate in Gira Música
The Gira Música fair brings together dozens of exhibitors not only from Rio de Janeiro but also from other Brazilian states, who fill the space with LPs, EPs, rarities, and curated selections for those just starting to collect.
In addition, visitors will also find books, fashion, handicrafts, collectibles, a children’s area, massage services, and a food court.
Speaking of food, this edition features the debut of MR. Barbecue, offering barbecue and burgers, among other delicacies. But, in response to requests from attendees of previous editions, the event will now also offer a vegan option, provided by Vegetati.
It’s also worth noting that the fair will feature a themed exhibition paying tribute to record stores from the 1970s and 1990s. These spaces served as true cultural hubs and played a key role in shaping the city’s music scene .
Live music and a DJ marathon are on the schedule
The concert will feature the band Notturnia, a staple of Rio’s flashback scene, performing their show “Vinyl Classics.” The setlist includes plenty of pop-rock, synthpop, dance music, and disco from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s.
Not to mention that vinyl DJ sets run all day long, featuring artists with very distinct styles!
Among them are DJ Fernandinho, a historic figure in Rio’s Charme movement; José Roberto Mahr, a pioneer of electronic music and indie rock in Brazil; Calbuque, founder of the Febre party and a pioneer of Rio’s drum ’n’ bass scene; Nino Carlo, producer and former DJ at RPC FM; as well as Meu Caro Vinho, Ruderal, Tati Horod, Edhunter, and DJ Wanisy, who has been there since the very first edition.
Rounding out the lineup are andreriot, Adriano Silva, Daniel Cairoli, Joca Vidal, and Leandro Tropa Du Vinil.
There’s more: anyone who wants to go beyond just browsing can take part in a passinho dance workshop led by Marcos Da Silva Augusto and Ricardo Você Lembra.
