Festival completes 20 years and shows national and foreign films

The Rio Mountain Festival, the leading festival of mountain culture and nature, has been running for 20 years. This year, the show will screen 30 adventure sports films, with international and national productions – there are six Brazilian films!
Among the international highlights is the award-winning Argentinian film “BILLY”, by Pablo Damián Schiel. The film tells the story of a 70-year-old grandfather who sets off on a ski trip, carrying fears, anxieties and internal conflicts from what may be his last adventure.
Among the national films, the highlight is “The Shoeshine Man Who Climbed Everest“, a feature by director Ian Lucas. The film tells of the determination of mountaineer Rosier Alexandre, who after a poor childhood in the arid Brazilian caatinga, conquered the highest peak on each of the seven continents, including Mount Everest.
The Festival will also screen the film “Out Of the blue”, by Sébastien Montaz-Rosset, which shows the union of street artists (acrobats) and mountain climbers in a project on the peaks of Oberland, Switzerland.
Rio Mountain Festival features exhibitions and more!

The program also includes the photographic exhibition “Patagonia, mountains of water”, by Luan Chaves. The photographer, whose work is his own, portrays the Patagonian landscape, fauna and culture.
There will also be meetings with authors such as Jorge Cáceres, from the book “No caminho de Santiago”, Susi Saito, author of “Alma Ciclo Viajante” and the launch of “Guia de sinalização para rotas de Cicloturismo e Trilhas no Brasil”, with Luiz Saldanha.
Finally, to celebrate Children’s Week, the festival will also feature a number of free activities until Sunday!
Attractions such as a climbing wall, slacklining (with renowned slackliner Gideão de Melo) and an object painting workshop with an emphasis on nature led by Adriane Ferreira (DrilifyArt).
What’s more, the festival also has a hang-gliding simulator, which will be installed at the Centro Cultural Correios – right next to the CCBB!
