“Everyone in Rio”: Lady Gaga in Copacabana in 2025
Columnist Lauro Jardimhad already reported that the agreement between Rio City Hall and singer Lady Gaga had been signed since last year.
However, due to the totally confidential contract, the announcement would only be made in January 2025. The month passed, many rumors and memes emerged, but the official announcement only happened this Friday, February 21, at a press conference.
Now confirmed, Lady Gaga ‘s performance marks the start of the ‘Everyone in Rio’ project, the annual event with free international concerts on Copacabana Beach, always in the first fortnight of the month.
Lady Gaga ‘s concert in Copacabana is scheduled for May 3, 2025.
Madonna’s show in Rio followed a similar format
The first big star to perform on the sands of Copacabana in this format was none other than Madonna in May 2024.
The singer ‘s announcement generated a real stir on social media and the mega-show broke attendance records, with a historic performance seen by more than 1.6 million people.
‘Devastated! Lady Gaga last came to Brazil in 2012
Rumors that Lady Gaga would perform in Copacabana gained more strength after an interview with the TV show ‘Fantástico’. At the time , the singer said that she “couldn’t wait” to return to Brazil.
That’s because her last time in the country was in 2012, more than a decade ago. She was also scheduled to perform at Rock in Rio in 2017, but canceled at short notice for health reasons.
At the time, she posted on social media that she was devastated (in English , ‘Brazil, I’m devasted’), which generated many memes that still resonate today!
It’s also worth remembering that the singer will release her new album in March 2025. She has also been confirmed as one of the headliners at Coachella, a festival to be held in California in April.
