2024 is almost here, so it’s time to start planning for next year. The bad news is that 2024 will be a year with lots of national holiday at weekends, and few holiday breaks. In other words, unlike 2023, which provided us with a series of big holidays, next year will be a year of more work and fewer “days off” during the week. Let’s see what the holidays in Rio de Janeiro (and Brazil) will be like in 2024?
Amendments in 2024
First of all, let’s get to the amendments! In 2024, you’ll have fewer opportunities – only three, if we include Carnival – to take advantage of the holidays.
In our analysis of the holiday calendar in Rio de Janeiro for 2024, the first possible amendment will be in February, during Carnival. Check out all the ones you can take advantage of:
- February 13 (Tuesday, Carnival): February 10 to 13
- April 23 (Tuesday, St. George’s Day): April 20 to 23
- May 30 (Thursday, Corpus Christi): May 30 to June 2
Long weekends in 2024
When a public holiday is combined with a weekend, either on a Monday or a Friday, we have the much-loved long weekend.
In 2024, there will be three possibilities:
- January 01 (Monday, New Year): December 30 (2023) to January 01
- March 29 (Friday, Good Friday): March 29-31
- November 15 (Friday, Proclamation of the Republic): November 15 to 18
