After a decade, the Feira Preta Festival is back in Rio de Janeiro! From May 29 to 31, Latin America’s largest gathering of Black culture and economy takes over Pier Mauá, Armazém Kobra, and various locations in Rio’s port area with a variety of free activities, including concerts, food, film screenings, and more. We’ll tell you all about it here!
An edition that connects memory, territory, and the future

With the motto “Black is the root of the revolution, ” Feira Preta is betting on an edition that establishes a direct connection with the region’s rich history.
That’s why the choice of Pequena África for the festival’s return to Rio de Janeiro was no accident. According to Adriana Barbosa, founder of Feira Preta, the region is a living symbol of memory and resistance, but also of the future.
Thus, by occupying a territory historically marked by the arrival, movement, and resistance of Black populations from different parts of Africa and the Black Atlantic, it broadens the dialogue between memory, culture, and innovation.
Feira Preta brings together big names in music, literature, and more

At the Feira Preta Festival, there will be no shortage of music. More than that: the musical lineup promises historic encounters.
Among them are performances by Leci Brandão with Marina Íris, Teresa Cristina alongside Áurea Martins and Rita Benedito, and the collaboration between Tati Quebra Barraco and Angolan singer Titica.
In addition, Sandra de Sá, Baile Black Bom, Awurê, Jazz Proibidão, Walmir Borges, Samba da Cabaça, DJ Nyack, Nanda Tsunami, Barona, Filhos de Gandhi, and Cortejo Prata Preta are also part of the lineup.
The program also makes room for the dissemination of knowledge and innovation with panels and workshops presented by SEBRAE. Influential figures in the market, such as Kondzilla, Nath Finanças, Paulo Vieira, and Jurema Werneck, will discuss pressing topics including artificial intelligence, digital culture, and economic flows.
And more: film, literature, visual arts, performances, slam poetry, stand-up comedy, dance, exhibitions, and immersive experiences will be spread across Pier Mauá, Armazém Kobra, and various historic sites in Little Africa.
Finally, it’s worth noting that the Feira Preta Festival goes beyond a cultural event. It also serves as a platform for business and economic circulation within the Black community.
Thus, the program brings together entrepreneurs from different areas of the creative economy in spaces dedicated to fashion, gastronomy, design, literature, wellness, and independent brands.
The festival takes place on May 29, 30, and 31, with free admission. You can find the full schedule on the event’s official social media channels.
