From June 19 to July 26, the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Market, better known as CADEG, will host another edition of its traditional Winter Festival.
This year, the event features dishes inspired by the World Cup, as well as cultural attractions, live music, special promotions, and charitable initiatives in a program that takes place across various areas of the market.
For over a month, restaurants, stores, and the Fashion Market will participate in the initiative with experiences created especially for the season. Check out more details!
CADEG Winter Festival features an exclusive menu at restaurants
For the eleventh edition of the Winter Festival—and in the spirit of the World Cup—the market’s establishments have prepared exclusive menus for the public.
Among the options, Cantinho das Concertinas presents “Torcida Luso-Brasileira,” featuring beef and chicken skewers with bacon, sausages, rice, beans, French fries, farofa, vinaigrette, and two pastéis de nata.
Meanwhile, Costelão do Cadeg presents the “House Special,” featuring charcoal-grilled Angus beef brisket served with crispy fries and green and yellow rice. In all, there are more than 20 participating restaurants and plenty of themed dishes to try!

In addition to the culinary options, the CADEG Winter Festival also features a varied cultural program throughout the event. Check out the attractions:
- June 21, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – AGMH Classic Car Meet. Theme: Brazilian fiberglass cars such as the Puma, MP Lafer, and Santa Matilde.
- June 27, at 1:00 p.m. – Lecture and tasting : “The Art of Savoring São Vicente Cheeses, ” presented by Laticínios Brasil Tropical.
- June 28, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – World Cup sticker swap.
- July 5, at 12 p.m. – Winter Pairings, with a sommelier partnering with the stores Arte dos Vinhos and Planeta dos Vinhos.
- July 5, at 1:00 p.m. – “Warming Up in Winter,” a cooking class with Chef Marcelo Barcellos from Barsa restaurant.
- July 19, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – AGMH Classic Car Meet. Theme: DKW vehicles, including Vemaguet, Belcar, and Candango.
In addition, several participating restaurants will host musical performances during the festival, featuring samba, MPB, rock, acoustic guitar and vocals, and Portuguese-themed parties.
Shoppers at participating stores will also have the chance to win exclusive collectible cups from the event. There are four different designs available while supplies last, and each establishment has its own rules for distribution.
Plus: throughout the event, the public can contribute to the campaign to collect warm clothing and blankets. Donations should be dropped off at the collection point set up at the Mercado da Moda and will be given to the Nossa Senhora Consolata Parish.
