A festival with free admission and activities for all ages

One of the leading festivals dedicated to Japanese culture in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Bunka-Sai is celebrating its 17th edition with a free program for all ages.
The event is organized by the Nikkei Association of Petrópolis and takes place at one of the city’s most famous venues: the Palácio Cristal.
The goal is to celebrate Japanese culture and strengthen cultural exchange between Brazil and Japan. Thus, the festival combines centuries-old cultural traditions with artistic performances, cuisine, workshops, and various activities inspired by the worlds of anime, manga, and cosplay.

Over the course of four days, the public will be able to immerse themselves in the customs and traditions of Japan through a wide variety of activities.
Among the highlights, the traditional Bon Odori dance is one of the moments most eagerly awaited by visitors. The festival also features martial arts demonstrations, manga workshops , drone activities, Japanese language classes, video games, and much more!
In addition, when it comes to food, attendees will have the chance to enjoy various traditional dishes, such as the tea ceremony, tastings of traditional sweets, and many other Asian delicacies.
The festival will also celebrate geek culture! There will be cosplay contests , anime screenings, and performances of Japanese songs that have defined generations!
And this year, Bunka-Sai has something new! Visitors will be able to wear kimonos and traditional costumes in a themed area, making the experience even more immersive!
