After five years, Arte Core returns to the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro, in Flamengo. The ninth edition of the festival takes place this weekend, featuring plenty of music, visual arts, and various other attractions. Read more here!
Arte Craft kicks off the festival on Friday, before the official program
One of the new features of the 2026 edition is Arte Craft, a fair that kicks off before the official program, on Friday starting at 12 p.m. on the MAM Terrace.
The space will bring together artists, collectives, galleries, publishers, and independent initiatives focused on print art.
Among the confirmed exhibitors are Kenner, Lithos Edição de Arte, Ponte Cultural, RJ Vandal & Casa Noz, Tu Tá no RJ, and the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Department of Culture.
In addition, the fair will also feature panel discussions with figures such as Pavilhão Maxwell Alexandre, Felipe Guga, and Futuro Suburbano, among others.
Arte Core’s curatorship highlights diverse expressions of Brazilian identity
In the visual arts, the festival features artists from different regions of the country. From the Federal District to Ceará, Piauí, São Paulo, Paraná, and Rio de Janeiro, names such as Amanda Nunes, Gugie Cavalcanti, Charles Lessa, Thaís Iroko, Robinho Santana, and Gustavo Magalhães are on the program.
According to PH, the curator, the idea was to seek out different perspectives to decentralize thinking about Brazil, creating a richer and more diverse multicultural concept .
Workshops, music, and cultural activations
In addition to checking out the visual arts, the public will also be able to participate in workshops on collective mural painting, graffiti, collage, and drawing, led by artists such as Bruno Big, Igor Izy, and Alberto Pereira.
As for the music program, DJs will perform exclusively using vinyl records. Rapper BNegão and artist FBC are also part of the lineup, with a free pocket show on Sunday, starting at 9 p.m.
The Futuro Suburbano collective is curating the Portas Abertas project, which will occupy a gallery featuring works by 36 artists from suburban and outlying areas, as well as historically marginalized groups.
Thirteen Years of Arte Core
Created in 2013, Arte Core helped launch the careers of artists such as Fefe Talavera, Maxwell Alexandre, Speto, and Bruno Big over the course of eight editions held through 2021.
In 2026, the festival resumes its journey with time as its central theme—a reflection on the creative process in the face of the speed of contemporary consumption.
