From September 16 to 27, Rio Art Week will take over the city, featuring various events in different venues. And Comlurb will also be part of the program with the “Eu Rio muito – From Trash to Luxury” project .
As a legacy for the city, renowned artists will transform 17 high-capacity trash containers (1,200 liters) and 50 trash cans into works of urban art. The initiative combines art, urban cleanup, and the enhancement of public spaces, contributing to a more beautiful, organized, and welcoming environment for residents and visitors.
The “Eu Rio muito – From Trash to Luxury” project brings together artists from different generations

The project, titled “Eu Rio muito – From Trash to Luxury, ” is curated by artist Susi Sielski Cantarino. She is responsible for the artistic conception and the selection of the invited contemporary visual artists .
This curated exhibition brings together artists from different generations, backgrounds, and styles within contemporary art. Among them are Anna Bella Geiger, Walter Carvalho, Jota, Jorge Barata, Antônio Amancio, and others.
It is worth noting that Anna Bella Geiger is one of Brazil’s greatest living artists, over 90 years old, and a legendary figure at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio.
The first tour takes place in downtown Rio

The “Eu Rio muito – From Trash to Luxury” project initiative stems from a powerful idea: to transform what normally goes unnoticed into an object of attention, beauty, and reflection.
Thus, the trash containers and waste bins—essential components of urban infrastructure—become canvases for interventions by contemporary artists.
Each piece of equipment will function as a small work of public art, creating an open-air art trail and inviting residents, visitors, and tourists to see Rio de Janeiro in a new light.
Initially, the project will be located in downtown Rio de Janeiro. However, there is the possibility of expanding it to areas with high cultural and tourist traffic.
The route will be strategically planned, allowing visitors to explore the art installations on foot, photograph them, share them, and incorporate them into their experience.
