Kafka and the Doll
Adapted for the first time in musical format for the stage, “Kafka and the Doll” is based on events experienced by the author Franz Kafka and comes to Rio de Janeiro in February.
Although well known for his modernist works, little is known about Kafka’s story with the little girl who made him rediscover the meaning and motivation to write again.
That’s because, during a walk in the park with his partner, the writer was touched by the sadness of a child who had lost her favorite doll.
The tears of little Lia Hillel, as she is called in the play, accompanied by her unconcerned questions, made him think of ways to help her overcome feelings that were familiar to him, such as loneliness and melancholy.
