Lapa will be transformed into an open-air movie theater this weekend. That’s because the 1st Territorial Itinerant Film Festival will take place on Saturday, with free screenings of independent films, including popcorn and more! Find out more about this event!
Lapa’s choice reflects mission to connect territories

After touring the interior of the state of Rio, the Itinerant Territorial Film Festival arrives in the capital to hold the grand finale of its first edition. And it will be in style, with a big screen under the Arcos da Lapa!
The aim of the festival is to amplify voices and reveal new perspectives on Rio’s audiovisual scene, transforming the event into a historic meeting between territories and celebrating independent cinema.
According to Marcelo Fonseca, the festival’s production director, closing the edition in Lapa completes the mission of decentralizing access to audiovisuals and promoting connections between different cultural territories in the state. It also helps to expand the circulation of works produced outside the traditional axis.
Festival will screen 10 films from the interior of Rio de Janeiro for free

At the event, independent films from the interior of Rio de Janeiro will be screened and will compete for prizes in four categories.
The call for films was aimed exclusively at proposals funded by the Paulo Gustavo Law in the North and Northwest regions of the state of Rio de Janeiro, in order to strengthen the territorial representativeness of the festival.
In all, ten films were selected and will be shown during the program, competing for R$14,000 in prizes: 1st place (R$5,000), 2nd place (R$4,000), 3rd place (R$3,000) and Popular Jury (R$2,000).
So, as well as watching the films, the public will also be able to talk to the directors in a chat, vote and watch – with popcorn! – the official announcement of the winners of this first edition.
According to Marcelo Fonseca, the audience in Lapa can expect an intense and representative evening of audiovisual production from the interior of the state!
The program brings together films that dialogue deeply with the identity of Rio de Janeiro’s territory, offering a diverse panorama of what is being created outside the major centers.
The 1st Itinerant Territorial Film Festival takes place this Saturday, December 13th, starting at 7pm, right in front of Circo Voador. Totally free!
