From February 13, CAIXA Cultural will host the “Ver-o-Norte” film exhibition , which features films from a variety of genres about the Amazon. In addition, storytelling, masterclasses and more chats are also on the program, to show the diversity and culture of the region. Find out more!
The aim of the exhibition is to highlight and bring the Amazon closer to the public
Much is said about the Amazon, but little is known about the region. That’s why the “Ver-o-Norte” film exhibition is coming to Rio de Janeiro to show its cultural and social diversity to the public.
It also sheds light on themes such as the exploitation of the territory, legends and local folklore.
According to writer, professor and journalist Cesar Garcia Lima, curator of the exhibition, the event is an opportunity to highlight the Amazon and bring it closer to audiences in other regions.
The Amazon is a strategic place for the planet, its culture is still little known and the exhibition highlights both the conflicts of reality, portrayed in documentaries, and the pulsating imagination of the region, exposed in fiction and animations.

Right at the opening, on the 13th, the show will screen the documentary “Não haverá mais história sem nós” (There will be no more history without us). The screening will be attended by director Priscilla Brasil, who will talk to the curator after the screening.
The exhibition also features 31 films of various genres, such as fiction, documentary and animation, produced in some of the Amazonian states.
The program also includes chats with guests after the screenings and provokes debate on how cinema reflects the diversity of the region, both in the challenges faced by its population and in relation to all those who have participated in its construction since Portuguese colonization.
The interaction between humans and the environment, the trajectory of migrants, women, native peoples, blacks and LGBTQIA+ in the region are among the main themes discussed at the event.
