Film festival showcases different facets of the macabre from female perspectives

Following its first edition in March 2025, the exhibition “Mestras do Macabro – Horror Filmmakers Around the World” returns to the CCBB in Rio this month.
The film exhibition aims to broaden perspectives on approaches to the macabre from a female point of view. Thus, it highlights both established voices and new female filmmakers in the genre.
In this second edition, now organized into thematic sections, there will be 38 titles, 31 of which are films directed by women. The other seven titles feature women in key roles, such as screenwriting, editing, cinematography, soundtrack, makeup, and special effects.
The exhibition will be on view at the CCBB in Rio de Janeiro from April 15 to May 18, and admission is free. But please note: you must pick up tickets, which will be available starting at 9 a.m. on the day of the screening.
You can find the full schedule and more information about the exhibition on the CCBB’s official website.
