An unusual and delicious event will take over Central do Brasil this Thursday morning, March 19. The São Cristóvão Market, in partnership with the Rio de Janeiro State Undersecretariat of Gastronomy, will set up a giant couscous pot right in the middle of the train station. And that’s not all: 5,000 servings of the dish will be distributed to the public, completely free of charge!
The initiative is part of the celebrations for Couscous Day
Did you know that Couscous Day is on March 19? To mark the occasion, the São Cristóvão Market and the Rio de Janeiro State Undersecretariat of Gastronomy will be organizing a special event this Thursday.
According to information from Jornal Extra, the event will distribute 5,000 servings of the traditional Northeastern Brazilian dish at Central do Brasil on that day, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
And there’s more: a giant couscous pot, four meters tall, will also take over the train station to celebrate the dish’s tradition!

According to the publication, this event at Central do Brasil is a preview and an invitation to the Cuscuz Festival, which takes place from March 20 to 22 at the Feira de São Cristóvão itself .
