If you love soccer and cinema, then you can’t miss this festival! Cinefoot takes place this month, from May 9 to 16, in different cultural venues in Rio de Janeiro. The program includes films about soccer, tributes, talks and a whole host of other free attractions. Find out more!
Cinefoot is a pioneer in Latin America and the only one of its kind in Brazil
Cinefoot has been running for 15 years, a festival that promotes national and international exhibitions about soccer. It also has other experiences, always based on plurality, diversity and interactivity.
It’s also worth noting that Cinefoot is the only festival in the country (and a pioneer in Latin America) dedicated to showing films about soccer.
To celebrate its anniversary, a special edition will be held this month in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. In both cities, the event promises meetings, attractions and lots of parties for lovers of cinema and sport.
Edition will feature works about Rio’s four big clubs
This year, the event will feature works dedicated to outstanding personalities from Rio’s four big clubs. One of them is “Alma e corpo de uma raça”, made by Cinédia in partnership with Flamengo in 1938.
Meticulously restored in 4K, the film brings together images of stars such as Leônidas da Silva and Valido, as well as the Fla-Flu match played especially in Laranjeiras for the filming.
For Botafogo fans, a special evening is planned for May 13! The unprecedented conquest of the Libertadores is the box office champion among the Albiceleste and seven works about the achievement of the Lone Star in Argentina will be highlighted.
Fluminense, meanwhile, will be represented by “Herança de Chico”, about fan Chico Guanabara, and a short film by the Museu da Pelada about Búfalo Gil – which will also serve as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Máquina Tricolor.
Vasco, meanwhile, will be seen on screen through the story of Almir Pernambuquinho, the indomitable genius of the pitch.
What’ s more, soccer’s greatest treasure couldn’t be left out! The Maracanã general, extinct for 20 years, will receive two special exhibitions: “Geral” and “Geraldinos”, which portray the old folkloric atmosphere of the most charming stadium in the world.
