Generational Encounters and Unprecedented Collaborations at Bossa Nova Sessions
Bossa Nova was born in Rio de Janeiro, conquered the world, and continues to reinvent itself. That’s why, starting this month, the Café Pequeno Theater will host a festival dedicated to the genre, featuring tributes, reinterpretations, intergenerational encounters, and unprecedented collaborations.
In total, there will be 18 shows, bringing together artists from different eras of Brazilian music. The opening act features Daniela Spielmann and Sheila Zagury, who are celebrating 30 years of partnership with a special appearance by trumpeter Silvério Pontes.
On October 17, drummer Téo Lima and pianist and singer Paula Maya Niemeyer will perform songs from the album *Rio de Janeiro*. They’ll also offer a sneak peek at the repertoire for their upcoming album, dedicated to Tom Jobim.
Speaking of tributes, Gab Lara and Cello Cascino will take the stage together for the first time—with two voices and an acoustic guitar—to pay homage to João Gilberto.
And on the evening of November 7, Maurício Einhorn, at 94 years old, will share the stage with Gabriel Grossi in “Harmonicas of Two Generations.”
